About

"I cannot live without books" Thomas Jefferson

Neither can I!  I feel like I came into this world reading and I buy books the way some people buy shoes!

Some of my favourite authors include:

Sergio Bambaren, Po Bronson, Dale Carnegie, Deepak Chopra, Tami Coyne, Arielle Ford, Dan Millman, SQuire Rushnell, Neale Donald Walsch and Karen Weissman.

This is my story...

My love of words and books led to a degree in French and German from the University of Westminster.  My special subject was literature and authors who influenced me the most were Eugène Ionesco (whose plays made me consider the absurdity of life) and Hermann Hesse (whose novels introduced me to the idea of self-awareness).  Not quite ready to leave those ivory towers, I followed this up with a masters degree in French and Theory of Literature at University College London.

Then came a few years in market research at NLK Consultants (pulp and paper industry specialists), where I did telephone and face-to-face interviewing in the UK and abroad and wrote reports and articles.  As I enjoyed writing and getting on the phone to people, I decided to move into the world of public relations.  I cut my PR teeth working for Imperial Cancer Research Fund before joining lively business-to-business public relations agency VLP, where I worked across a range of accounts including printing technology.  I learnt to get to grips with different subject areas fast and to communicate them to the right audiences.  I wrote press releases, case studies, newsletters and articles and learnt to play table football!

I then decided to return to my first love: books.  I spent some time in the publishing industry including Random House and MQP Ltd, mainly within marketing and co-edition sales.  I also attended the ultimate publishing events: the Frankfurt and London Book Fairs.

I then did PR and marketing for the Mind Body Spirit Festival in London, before setting up my own business as a writer's coach.  And I've never looked back!  This favourite quote of mine sums it up perfectly:

Everyone has a purpose in life...a unique gift or special talent to give to others.  And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.

Deepak Chopra
